Herbert Lumber Co.
Herbert Lumber is a 60-year-old, family-owned mill in Riddle, Oregon, that processes Douglas-fir into custom products. For the PDX Next airport project, Herbert purchased logs from the Coquille Indian Tribe, Hoopa Valley Tribe, and Cow creek Band of Umpqua Tribe of Indians and kept them separated from other logs, to ensure they could be traced back to their origin as requested by the Port of Portland and ZGF architects in the airport project. Coquille logs eventually went to Zip-O-Log Mills to be processed into glulam beams for the mass timber ceiling. The logs from the Hoopa and Cow Creek Tribes were used for wood in the concession stands.
